The management of supply chain risks (SCR) is becoming a must-have activity within the management of a supply chain, in order to avoid (or, at least, reduce) business disruptions that seem to be increasingly common in today's volatile era. It is well known today that the performances of a supply chain are heavily affected by uncertainty due to events  from transportation system disruption due to workers strike to non-compliance with regulations and laws which force companies to recall huge amount of products, even to natural disasters  taking place all over the world.

We do not want to deal with the causes and sources of risks here (please, refer to others articles published on the RiskCentral website). Instead, we want to focus on the management process devoted to handle risks.

According to Hallikas et al., (2004) a typical risk management process of an enterprise consists of 4 main tasks, and namely risk identification, risk assessment, decision and implementation of risk management actions, and risk monitoring.
