In this role , Procurement Engineer, you will have the opportunity to

Be the expert in translating business needs into procurement solutions for the Philips Aging and Caregiving (A&CG) business.  This is an instrumental role supporting the business in its transformation to a leading senior care solutions provider. As the procurement engineer in this business, you act as the interface between suppliers, R&D, SW & HW engineers, Product Management and senior leadership in order to secure best-in-class products and solutions.

You are responsible for

  • Providing Procurement leadership and vision to enable the organization’s short and long term strategic objectives and contribute to developing procurement strategies
  • Supporting product launches at optimal value and cost resulting in strong margins,  high quality and business growth
  • Assisting business segments in meeting cost targets (e.g., through Design for Excellence / Value Engineering activities)
  • Being part of cross-functional teams that drive new solutions end to end
  • Developing a current and future supply base that supports the business strategy
  • Interacting with all levels of personnel within Philips and supplier organizations
  • Supporting supplier negotiations to drive short and long term opportunities

    A business, Philips Aging and Caregiving (A&CG), formerly called Lifeline, playing a central role in improving people’s lives. Which is a part of the Population Health Management group, which is a domain area that Philips is investing in as part of its strategy to transform healthcare. The A&CG business is a leading solutions provider of care to seniors living independently or in care facilities. A&CG is on a transformational journey to enhance its products and services with the digitization of healthcare. 

    This role will be based in the Boston area as the Aging and Caregiving business's operations are in Framingham. Note also that Philips has a facility in Andover which will be relocating to a new site at Cambridge Crossing, a large development underway on the Cambridge-Somerville-Boston line. This is a very exciting time to be joining Philips, as this new location, due to open early 2020, will be our largest North American R&D innovation center. With this in mind, there could be an option to work between Cambridge Crossing and Framingham locations depending on business needs.

    To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • A Masters degree (or equivalent) in Engineering/Science or relevant disciplines
  • Existing knowledge of procurement processes and sourcing methodologies
  • 5+ years demonstrable experience gained within procurement or similar role
  • Strong project management skillset and proven track record in collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams in a fast paced environment
  • Ideally deep knowledge of solutions type businesses with mix of hardware, software and full service approach to end customers
  • Experience in researching new industry technologies, to deliver improved product solutions and reducing costs.
  • Knowledge and application of value engineering / Design for Excellence to improve the balance of value and cost to deliver optimal solutions
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
