In this role, you have the opportunity to

Manage our overall commercial relationships and end-to-end performance management of your assigned strategic outsourced Contract Manufacturing (CM) partners.

You are responsible for

  • Owning and leading the commercial relationship with strategic Contract Manufacturing (CM) suppliers.
  • Communicating requirements and expectations to CMs.
  • Managing ongoing business relationships and facilitate open communication between our CMs and Philips BU through ongoing team meetings, action item lists, performance reporting, etc.
  • Acting as an escalation path in the event our suppliers are not meeting production schedules, NPI, quality, efficiency or supply milestones
  • Managing performance of CMs via best practices such as Quarterly Business Reviews and Scorecards to drive continuous improvement
  • Monitoring day-to-day tactical activities to ensure CMs are successful in meeting their quality, delivery, cost and lead-time commitments.
  • Implementing programs throughout the supply chain to drive increased supply assurance and flexibility to support forecasted demand fluctuations.
  • Collaborating with CM and internal stakeholders to help CM’s achieve Philips goals for product price, quality, and delivery.
  • Working with Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) and Marketing to translate the demand forecast into a monthly Master Production Schedule (MPS) and 12-month rolling forecast.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate communication of purchase orders and resolve any shipment or invoice discrepancies between our CMs and 3PL partners.
  • Driving capacity planning process at CMs to ensure we have adequate lead-time to add equipment and tooling as required by demand forecasts.
  • Holding CM partners accountable for managing Tier 2 suppliers to the agreed upon terms and conditions, including Tier 2 cost reduction goals
  • Coordinating and driving lifecycle management including roadmap review and EOL management
  • Prioritizing production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply, yield increase
  • Tracking supplier inventory levels and projected Excess and Obsolete material liability. Aggressively drive mitigation actions to reduce or eliminate liability for Company.
  • Supporting New Product Introductions (NPI’s) and strategic manufacturing outsourcing projects from supplier selection, qualification and development activities, ongoing relationship and performance management.

You are a part of

Our Supply Chain Global team and will be the primary point of contact for CM as well as managing the daily needs and business opportunities for our CM partners to assure quality, delivery, cost, lead-time, and responsiveness objectives are met.  Working closely with internal and external cross-functional teams including Procurement Engineering, R&D Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering and Program Management will be essential to success.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline (Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or equivalent), advanced degree or MBA is preferred
  • Previous experience in R&D, Procurement, Operations, Quality, Project Management and/or Supply Chain
  • 5+ years of experience in CM Management or CM Program Management
  • FDA experience & Healthcare/Med Tech Industry experiences are preferred
  • High quality mindset with customers centric approach
  • Experience facilitating communications between your team and suppliers as well as other internal engineering, product management, marketing, finance, procurement and supply chain organizations
  • Outstanding skills and proven track record of delivering results through collaboration with other functions including Operations, Engineering and Product Management to ensure that cross-functional objectives are achieved
  • Solid understanding of the basic areas within manufacturing operations and how they inter-relate, including supply chain architecture, procurement, product costing, supply chain management, quality management, regulatory compliance, sustaining engineering, logistics, BOM structure and its implications, customer fulfillment.
  • Understand supply chain management of Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers /components, manage cost changes, phase-in/phase-outs of material in a complex/global supply chain environment
  • Strong supplier project management experience and skills in New Product Introduction (NPI) environment
  • Knowledge of purchasing, business processes and tools
  • Ability to think analytically and work independently, anticipate changing business, project and supplier needs
  • Negotiation skills and contract management experience
  • Ability to influence others and build effective working relationships both internally and externally at various organizational levels
  • Ability to lead small multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to travel 30%, Domestic/International
