Supply Planning Manager

The Supply Planning Manager will determine optimal inventory levels for Distribution Centers and Plants while meeting and exceeding company defined key performance metrics such as fill rate, distress, and working capital. Managing production capacity while balancing the cost of inventory capital, capacity constraints, plant production efficiencies, and customer fill rate objectives. Providing support and leadership to a team of Supply Planners. Overseeing the management of inventories at manufacturing facilities and 3rd party distribution centers to support the companies sales activity. Coordinates, and acts as the liaison with business partners and Supply Planners regarding all supply chain related projects. Communicates with business partners regarding capacity constraints and limitations for internal manufacturing locations, working with manufacturing facilities and/or suppliers in scheduling production to support sales activity at the least landed cost. The role is tasked with:

1. Performs daily walks and visual inspections of the Production floor in observation of unsafe acts or conditions; takes immediate corrective action where necessary.

2. Oversees and aids in optimizing inventory levels at both distribution centers and plants via various stocking policies.

3. Drives ongoing improvement in inventory turns.

4. Manages business factors for attaining targeted fill rate of 98.5%

5. Driving for decreased alert levels, and distress sales across all categories.

6. Drives enforcement and utilization of capacity models for entire business.

7. Supports and provides direction to marketing and sales regarding capacity availability or limitations for existing or new business simulations.

8. Interacts with all business partners for strengthening of process opportunities and effectiveness across the company.

9. Provides resolution and execution to key shortage issues to upper management.

10. Develops and trains direct reports and provides day-to-day direction.

11. Provides miscellaneous support to manufacturing plants and builds supplier relationships.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Provides leadership and guidance to employees within the Supply Planning function. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assisting in providing appropriate resolutions.


  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in supply chain management/ operations/ finance/ engineering /mathematics
  • 5+ years of experience within supply planning, inventory control, logistics management and/or manufacturing production
  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
  • REQUIRED- Perishable manufacturing environment experience
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification, a plus.
  • Experience with SAP and its related supply chain applications.
  • Experience with Advance Planning Systems (Logility/JDA/APO/etc.) is required – specifically Logility is a plus.
  • Proficiency using PC-base Technology (Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word and Access).
  • 10-15% travel required
