Job Description

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Lead all Procurement Engineering (PE) activities with end-to-end (E2E) understanding of the product concept within an assigned business scope, delivering business strategies to include the strategic cost of the vision.  Additionally, own the Design for Excellence (DfX) concept and ensure alignment with all other functional disciplines, market partners and relevant business entities.

This position is located in Latham, New York. Travel is required and will vary on business need. Domestic relocation will be provided for this position.

You are responsible for (but not limited to)

  • Designing and crafting of the DfX competencies within the assigned business scope including management of the related actions to make this happen.

  • Functioning as a member of the relevant Management Team (MT) and ensuring business leaders can access all Procurement activities, including Commodity Management (CM) teams and Order-to-Cash (O2C).

  • Ensuring the involvement of all relevant Commodity Management teams in Idea-to-Market (I2M). They deliver valuable contributions by bringing the entire Procurement network (CM, PE, MPP, Government and Support) to the equation

  • Coordinating all procurement related activities for FGU business line

  • Leading Procurement Engineering, and meeting all Category related Procurement Objectives/important metrics (e.g. BoM Savings, GSRS, # suppliers)

  • Ensuring Category spend volume will be led through the DfX concept

  • Being a Category MT member, provide Leadership and vision to support the business objectives; verifying the Category Procurement Engineering related risks are controlled and mitigated

  • Executing requirements for supply strategy for in/outsourcing and components; and Category requirements for procurement strategy

  • Aligning suppliers with Product & Technology Roadmaps, ensuring early supplier involvement in the Product Design Process within the Category

  • Linking the new product introduction process with the supplier selection (total cost of ownership, handshake)

  • Securing S&OP linkage to component availability, development of cost roadmaps & margin management

  • Developing Target Cost model of products; and standardization & complexity reduction (for concept improvement)

  • Leading special expansion projects, global capacity expansion and Supplier capacity / capability development

You are a part of

Diagnostic Imaging, sitting at the very heart of the Philips strategy in the critical areas of Diagnosis and Treatment - the largest Business Group in Philips.  

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Bachelor Degree in a technical relevant discipline (e.g. Electro Technical, Mechanical, Optical, Thermal), Master degree, and / or MBA a plus

  • Procurement management professional with 15+ years of experience with a validated career track

  • Expertise in MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) Technology within Healthcare, is ideal; however -

  • Broad experience within a heavily regulated industry, such as Aerospace, Defense, Mechanical Engineering, strongly considered!

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of suppliers, business models, key drivers, measures and priorities

  • Expertise in the DfX convention approach, cost models, and in applying Value Engineering processes (L2)
